Donating Resources: Hair Care

Vigo County DCS Office, Senior Program Manager for Every Child Indiana Johnny Holmes

We recently had the pleasure of meeting with the DCS office in Vigo County. When talking about resources for foster homes, we were surprised to learn what the most common question they hear from foster parents. The question was: What hair care products should we buy?

When taking in a child from foster care, the first thing foster parents do is prepare by gathering or buying all that they might need. However, there might be times where a foster home doesn’t know what they need for a child from a different cultural background, or maybe they are taking in multiple children and need additional bedding. That’s why tangible donations from the community are so important to supporting foster homes in Indiana.

What you can do:

If you’re someone who may not have time for a commitment such as foster care, there are alternatives. Donating to your local DCS office or local agency can have a bigger impact on the children than you think. We believe not just Vigo County, but all counties need donations to make foster care sustainable for the parents. If you can, click the connect button at the top of the page to contact us. No matter how small of a donation, it’s huge for the kids!
